Passengers Requiring a Stretcher
We are committed to providing necessary assistance to passengers who are critically ill or injured and are unable to board or disembark independently, or who are unable to use a standard cabin seat and therefore require transportation on a stretcher.
This service is available only on non-stop flights operated by China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines and bearing China Eastern or Shanghai Airlines flight numbers.

Original Certificate of Diagnosis
The Certificate of Diagnosis must be issued by a physician from a Grade II (or above) hospital in China (or an equivalent clinic, medical center, or hospital overseas) and bear the official stamp of the issuing medical institution.
For certificates issued overseas, the physician’s signature is sufficient.
In addition to the certificate submitted at the time of application, a certificate issued within 48 hours prior to the flight’s scheduled departure must also be presented on the day of travel.
Passengers are advised to arrive at the departure airport and complete check-in procedures at least 120 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
Only one stretcher passenger is permitted per flight. The stretcher installation will be arranged in Economy Class.
The stretcher passenger and accompanying person(s) shall be charged the applicable Economy Class fare. Seats occupied or removed for stretcher installation must be purchased at the published full Economy Class fare corresponding to the actual number of seats involved.
Passengers requiring a stretcher must be accompanied by at least one medical professional or adult companion. Medical professionals must present valid identification and proof of professional qualification.
An approved application for stretcher service is required prior to ticket purchase.
If you need to use a portable oxygen concentrator onboard, please submit your request at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time (refer to “Information for Passengers Requiring Portable Oxygen Concentrators”).
Passengers requiring ambulance services must contact the relevant service provider (e.g., airport emergency center) directly. All associated costs shall be borne by the passenger.
The free baggage allowance for stretcher passengers shall be determined based on the actual number of tickets purchased.
China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will review the application based on the scheduled departure date and contact the applicant between 09:00 and 19:00 daily. Please keep your phone accessible after submission. If you do not receive a confirmation call or message within 4 hours (excluding non-working hours), please resubmit your application or call 95530.
Submission of the online application indicates receipt of your request by China Eastern Airlines; however, it does not constitute approval. Your requested flight may not be available due to service limits, seat availability, or airport operational constraints. We will contact you to offer alternative flight or date options. Approval is subject to our final confirmation.
